Department of the Corporation Counsel: Performance Measures

To support county government by providing legal advice and representation that promotes public interest, and promotes the countywide strategic priorities.

Programs:

Legal Services Program

The Legal Services Program serves as legal adviser and legal representative of the County of Maui, of the Council, the Mayor, all departments, all Boards and Commissions, and of all County officials and employees in matters relating to their official duties. This program also includes Risk Management.

FY 2017 Highlights:

In 2017, the Department of the Corporation Counsel exceeded a number of success measure estimates. The Department:
  • Maintained low percentages of attorney hours spent in meetings to minimize the need for costly outside assistance.
  • Exceeded the estimated number of annual attorney-led workshops and seminars conducted for clients.
  • Met 100% of measures related to the goal of effectively managing, controlling and decreasing Maui County's total cost of risk.
